Trailing at halftime, the Seneca Sting (13-2) had a big 3rd quarter to get by the La Cité Coyotes (7-7) 82-78.
The Sting jumped out to an early lead on the Coyotes, leading by six midway through the opening quarter. The Coyotes battled back, but the Sting were able to maintain a five point lead after the first quarter.
The Coyotes switched their defense which created problems for the Sting. As turnovers and contested shots increased, the Coyotes were able to run a fast-paced offense, outscoring the Sting 25-12 in the second quarter to take an eight point lead at halftime.
Looking to get back in the game, the Sting changed up their offensive approach which led to a 16-3 run to open the quarter, erasing the Coyotes lead. With Isaiah Ankra and Jordan Anderson leading the way, the Sting outscored the Coyotes 30-14 in the quarter to take an eight point lead into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter saw the teams exchange baskets throughout. The Sting were unable to extend their lead beyond seven points while the Coyotes clawed to within three points on two occassions. Leading by five late, Ankra sealed the victory with a pair of free throws for the home side.
Ankra led the Sting with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 3 steals. Raymond Yeung and Dakoda Lewis (6 rebounds, 3 steals) each finished with 16 points while Anderson added 10 points.
Nickolas Juvi Gardner led the Coyotes with 17 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Harouna Diop added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists while Issack Egueh finished with 14 points.
