The Seneca Sting advanced to the OCAA Championship semi-final with an 83-51 win over the Redeemer Royals.
After a sluggish opening two minutes which saw the Sting trail 5-2, the reigning National Champions went on a 15-0 run to blow the game wide open.
Thanks to an aggressive defense, the Sting were able to force a number of turnovers which led to easy baskets in transition. Leading the way defensively were guards Isaiah Ankra, Jordan Anderson and Johnny Kitenge. With the Royals unable to get open looks from distance, they went inside the paint, only to find two-time OCAA Defensive Player of the Year Khalil Miller protecting the rim.
Displaying poise and a sense of calm, Nabil Ibrahim and Isse Ibrahim led the Sting, helping guide them to a 44-16 halftime lead, allowing the team to rest some of the starters in the second half.
Nabil Ibrahim was named Player of the Game, finishing with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Isse Ibrahim had 11 points and 11 rebounds and Dimitri Lim added 13 points.
The Sting will play the Sheridan Bruins in a rematch of last year's OCAA Championship semi-final. The winner will advance to the OCAA Championship gold medal game and also earn a spot in the CCAA National Championship.
