The Seneca Sting (0-4) dropped the second game of their doubleheader against the Durham Lords (6-0) 17-1 in five innings.
The Lords started the game quickly, notching three runs before the Sting reached the batters box.
With the comfortable lead, the Lords piled on six runs in the top of the second inning and four more in the third inning.
Facing the possibility of a shut out, the Melissa Wonfor led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a stand-up triple, driving a hard liner to left-centerfield. The speedy Wonfor was already rounding second base when the Lords fielded the ball which rested against the fence. Chantal Gendron drove Wonfor home two batters later on an infield groundout.
Wonfor, Kiara Thomas, Kiara Saito and Danielle Pound each had a hit for the Sting. Jasmin Namnama and Leeanne Delorme each reached base via walks.
Nicole Mancinin and Sydney Redick each hat four hits for the Lords. Redick added 4 runs scored and 6 RBIs. Mancini and Kaleigh MacIntyre each scored three runs. Madigan McGhee went 2-for-4 with a run and 4 RBIs.
Redick pitched 5 innings, allowed 4 hits, 1 run (1 earned), 2 walks and 10 strikeouts. Nicole Pearce suffered the loss for the Sting pitching 3 innings while surrendering 12 hits, 13 runs (4 earned) and 1 walk.
