Sting Show Fight Despite Loss

 After dropping the first game 14-2, the Seneca Sting held the lead late before falling to the Fanshawe Falcons 4-1 in the second game of their double header.

Game 1
In what looked to be a promising game early, the Sting and Falcons battled over the first three innings. The Falcons struck first in the top of the first inning when Samantha Fuller scored on a single by Ali Bergman to center field.

The Sting responded in the bottom of the first ining when Jasmin Namnama continued to excellence season with a single to right field, scoring Alyssa Jansen. The Sting took the lead in the bottom of the third inning when Jansen crossed home plate for a second time on a wild play. Nicole Pound flied out to center field with Namnama on second and Jansen on third. Jansen came home, beating the throw. On the throw, Namnama took off for third, only to be tagged out.

The Falcons re-took the lead in the fourth inning, scoring four runs. The Falcons blew the game wide open in the fifth inning, scoring nine runs.

Jansen, Namnama and Amanda Van de Graff each had hits for the Sting. Chantel Gendron allowed 14 runs 12 earned) on 12 hits with a pair of walks.

Laura Chappel had three hits for the Falcons while Kennedi Roth scored three times. Chappel allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, 2 walks and struck out 4.

Game 2
The Sting quickly put the ending to the first game behind them, starting the second game just as they did in the first game.

With Van de Graaf pitching nearly perfect on the mound, the Sting held a 1-0 lead until the sixth inning. The Falcons tied the game in the sixth when Nichole Erb tripled to center field, scoring Emily Davis.

The Falcons would add three runs in the top of the seventh. Ali Bergman doubled to center field with runners on second and third, scoring Kennedi Roth and Chappel. Jacey Lochert added to the Falcons lead one batter later with a drive to left field, scoring Bergman.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Sting put runners on first and second with Nicole Pound at the plate, but Erb was able to force a fly out for the win.

The Sting opened the scoring in the first inning when Namnama scored on a ground out by Pound to the pitcher.

Gendron and Alik Derderian each had a pair of hits for the Sting. Van de Graaf allowed 4 runs (4 earned) on 9 hits, 4 walks and 1 strike out.

Roth and Erb each had two hits for the Falcons. Bergman allowed 1 run (1 earned) on 3 hits, 1 walk and 2 strike outs in two innings for the win. Erb started the game, allowing a pair of hits, 4 walks, 8 strike outs in five innings.
